This the very first post on the new "Room #32 : Home of the Little Deacons" Web Log. It is my hope that this will grow into a positive way to keep all those involved with Room #32 up to date with the "goings on" in class. Well, this very 1st post will be dedicated to saying "Thank You" to all of those who have helped to make this one the best, if not the very best school year during my 15 years as a teacher.
I want to start by thanking Wake Forest University.....THE MOST WONDERFUL, AMAZING UNIVERSITY. It has been my pleasure to represent Wake Forest in my classroom these last two years. I hope it is just the beginning of many more wonderful years with Wake Forest's presence in my classroom. We have partnered with some wonderful Wake Forest Alumnus (led by Betsy Chapman and Cassandra Baker) who have helped to inspire the students in my class. Wake Forest's motto is "Pro Humanitate" which simply means "For the good of humanity." These people really live this motto out. Their kindness and generosity toward my class has been without measure. Abundant if you will. Overflowing. I could go on and on and on......there are not enough wonderful adjectives to describe those individuals who have shared themselves with my students. They know who they are, and while I do not feel comfortable sharing their names on this blog (I haven't asked for their permission to do so) trust me when I say I believe them to be simply a microcosm of the generosity that flows from the hearts of all who have attended Wake Forest University. So thank you Wake Forest Alumni for giving of your time and yourselves to make an impact on the students of Room #32. I hope you all know how much you are appreciated and always welcome in Room #32 at Winchester Elementary. This wonderful year would have been nothing without you.........so cheers.
There are others at Wake Forest that have given of their time to my class. The Football team sent the class a program. The Women's Basketball team sent us letters. We are big fans of all Wake Forest sports and many of the kids as well as myself have had the pleasure of watching these wonderful teams play on T.V. We have also had the honor to be the "littlest" fans of the Wake Forest Women's Golf Team. Coach Dianne Dailey (she sent us posters of many of the sports at Wake Forest. They all hang proudly on our walls) and this wonderful group of young women have done a great deal to inspire my class. We have followed their success during these last two years, and like all other teams at Wake Forest, the future is bright because of their dedication to craft and excellence. I hope to create many more "little" fans of Wake Forest sports in the years to come.
So thank you Wake Forest University...........
GO DEACS!!!!!!!
I want to thank the parents of this year's group of kids. WOW......they are amazing. They get their kids to school each and every day, ready for the challenges of 2nd grade. They say the apple never falls far from the tree. Well, If I may take a saying to it's extreme, It has been my privilege to teach the apples of such fine trees. So thank you parents for helping your children and me in so many ways.
But lastly, I need to thank the kids. You kids mean the world to me, and have brought me such happiness this year. You fill my days with sunshine and laughter. Your hard work and dedication have paid off in a big way. I am so very proud of each of you. I will miss seeing your smiling faces in "our" classroom when you move onto 3rd grade in four weeks. Just know each of you holds a special place in my heart. I will never forget all of you. It has been my honor to be your teacher. I could not be more proud of all you have accomplished.
So.............
Still 4 weeks left of this school year, and I will share a few more posts before the year ends so check back.
And of course..........
There is always next year (and believe me, as a Padre and Charger fan..........all you can say is "there's always next year"........because it never seems to be this year. :)
Go Deacs!!!!
Go Wildcats!!!
